We Have a Team!

Now that we’ve started the new year and are enjoying a summery week in 2023, we bring you a piece of much happier news compared to the usual instructions or notifications. This past Tuesday, after several months of waiting, our field maintenance team received their new soccer uniforms.

Juan Carlos Ortiz, our Commercial Manager, took the jerseys up north and delivered them in person. He also shared an entertaining, heroic, and interesting message about the event:

Now that we’ve started the new year and are enjoying a summery week in 2023, we bring you a piece of much happier news compared to the usual instructions or notifications. This past Tuesday, after several months of waiting, our field maintenance team received their new soccer uniforms.

“The great ‘Field Maintenance’ team at AIKO, composed of 8 professionals distributed between DGM and DRT, shares a common passion: soccer.

This is a long-standing affair, a passion that has been brewing since the childhood of our heroes working on the Codelco sites in Calama. Some of them have a past connected to the youth teams of the great Cobreloa, the legendary team founded in 1977 that had remarkable performances in Chilean soccer, reaching two consecutive Copa América finals in 1981 and 1982, and eventually winning 8 national titles.

Our boys played for that brave northern team, reflecting the strength, dedication, and ‘love for work’ of its people. This team provided them with good athletic training and even better personal development. It’s how Andrés Araya, Ruben Páez, and Matías Valenzuela were trained in that academy and have always been connected to this noble sport.

Now at AIKO, they aim to relive the glory of their beloved team and face companies like Komatsu, Derk, CAT, and many others in heroic mini-soccer (8 players per side) matches. While these companies might have an advantage over us because we don’t have substitute players, we are confident that our eight warriors will put up a great fight and win a few soccer matches.

Here are a couple of photos of our guys receiving the uniforms that were designed with so much love to represent us.
